Partnering with Just One Tree

Partnering with Just One Tree

By HandsomeStrife • October 5, 2025

It's been a while since I've had to write anything myself, without heading on over to ChatGPT or any of the various other LLMs out there and asking them for opinions and advice. "How should I address this topic", or "Give me some ideas as to what to say". However based on the nature of this post, I'm trying to avoid it - and man it's hard.

The headline of this post is that we've partnered up with Just One Tree, a company committed to planting new trees in order to help promote better CO2 levels and overall, a more sustainable earth.

It has always been in the back of my mind that AI is costly to run; the servers and the like are no doubt affecting the environment and as that use increases it's just going to get worse if we don't proactively do something.

As such, we're donating 5% of our subscription revenue each month to help plant trees. I'd love to do more, but despite the fact we're at nearly 10,000 users (holy smokes), this doesn't equate to our paid subscribers and our costs are close to what we pull in via revenue at the minute.

Part of that reason is because we continue (and will continue) to offer our base service free of charge. It's another principle of mine that we want to be able to supply users with a bot that can do what the others can, along with added moderation and other aspects, for free. It's thanks to our paid users that we can continue doing this.

Slight tangent I went on there (see this is why I need the LLM to correct me) - however I want to say that we are conscious of peoples concerns when it comes to the use of AI, and we want to actively help the environment with our continued use of it.

I hope you will all stick around and help us plant more trees. Thank you.

Dan
